Mixing Procedures

Important Tips:

* Make all additions under agitation! Never weigh total batch then agitate.

* Never add a vehicle to a dispersion that is not first adjusted to proper pH range (8.5 or above).

* Pre-blend solvents with water before adding.

* When using strong acids or alkalines, dilute them with water before adding to help eliminate shocking.

For emulsion vehicles:

1. Add emulsion to the tank or vat.

2. Slowly add color dispersion under agitation.

3. If a true solution resin or wax emulsion is used , add it next.

4. Complete batch with defoamer, water and solvent.

Note: Solvents such as isopropyl alcohol should be blended with water to help eliminate shocking.

For non-emulsion vehicles:

1. Add dispersion to the tank or vat.

2. Add water to help thin dispersion.

3. Add extending vehicle, colloidal dispersion, true solution, maleic or protein.

4. Complete batch with defoamer, water and solvent.
